Dominoes

2–4 players · 10–15 min

Dominoes is a tile game (double-six, draw variant) for two to four players. You place tiles so their touching ends match by number and aim to be the first to play all your tiles; the match is played to 100 points.

How to play Dominoes

  1. The deal. With two players each draws 7 tiles, with three or four — 5; the rest stay in the "boneyard". The first hand is opened by whoever holds the highest double.
  2. Placing. You attach a tile to one of the open ends only if the numbers match.
  3. Drawing. If you have no suitable tile, you draw from the boneyard until you can play; passing is allowed only when the boneyard is empty.
  4. Winning. Play your last tile and you score the points left in the other hands; in a blocked game the lowest total wins.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Dominoes?

You take turns placing tiles so the touching ends show equal numbers; if you have no move, you draw from the boneyard until you can play — the first to play all their tiles scores the points left in the other hands, and the match is played to 100.
